About Our Two Cottages: One is called ‘Red Fish’ & the other ‘Kingfisher’. These cottages originally were property owned in 1925 by an orange grove farmer. The main house, which we now call ‘Red Fish Cottage’, was built first. The original family called the second dwelling ‘the honey house’ as it was a utility building for bee keeping. It was essential in insuring the fruit trees be better pollinated as bees were used as a necessary element for a quality crop. Much later, the ‘honey house’ was renovated into a small rental home. We now call the old honey house ‘Kingfisher Cottage’. A few, now wild, orange trees still exist in surrounding woodsy area. We haven’t seen the bees though.
